ETE Chapter Handbook

Starting an ETE Chapter

Thank you so much for your interest in starting an ETE Chapter at your respective school, region, or country! We appreciate your commitment to improving the lives of underprivileged students. We hope that this guide will serve as an outline and provide you with just the tips you need to create a successful ETE Chapter. Whether this is your first time leading a group or if you've had plenty of experience before, this handbook will be extremely useful in understanding how to create a ETE Chapter that truly makes a difference in the lives of underprivileged students.

Best,

Equality Through Education Team

The Basics

Please reach us at equalitythrougheducation.ete@gmail.com if you have any other inquiries

An Equality Through Education (ETE) Chapter is a branch off of our main non-profit organization that consists of a group of people striving to help underprivileged students in their area. No matter the size of the Chapter, every Chapter is significant and crucial to ETE’s mission. An ETE Chapter can be a school club, a community group, or even just among friends. Chapters are expected to make a commitment to maintaining a close relationship with the kids within your area. Chapters are also expected to maintain good relationships with their partners to bring a larger-scale impact to ETE’s mission.

  1. Provide support to underprivileged students in your school/region/country.
  2. Hold a leadership position and lead a team.
  3. Improve leadership, organizational, and advocacy skills.
  4. Feel more involved in your community.
  5. Earn numerous hours of service.

In your ETE Chapter, your organizational structure may vary but we commend that you appoint the following positions:

  1. Chapter Lead: Manages all positions and oversees all activities; communicates with and updates the ETE Executive board monthly.
  2. Secretary: Collaborates with the President; organizes logistics for events; in charge of communication between the partner schools as well as with general officers., team members, and Oorja Munot.
  3. Treasurer: Manages the club's budgeting and the general funds/fills out a bi-annual budget report; organizes fundraisers.

*Events and Tutoring heads as necessary

The Steps

Getting Started

1) Chapter Registration

To register, you must fill out the Chapter Registration Form. Only when you fill out this form, you will be officially registered. After you fill out the form, you will be notified by the ETE Team and be signed up for an interview with the President (Oorja Munot) and the Secretary based on your availability.

*If you are a school-based club, it is important to contact admin, your club-sponsor(s), and potentially the school principal before setting up fundraisers and certain events. Please make sure to not forget these steps.

2) Meet with Oorja Munot and Executive Board Members

3) Once you are fully registered, you must:

Create an Instagram Account for your ETE Chapter:

  • Make sure to tag our main Instagram (@equalitythrued) in the bio
  • Please format the handle @equalitythrued or @ete followed by school name/community/country name
  • Once you have created your Instagram account, you must email the ETE Team the handle and you may begin posting about events and updates.

Create an ETE Chapter Email

  • Create an email for your ETE Chapter and use this specific email for all non-profit and ETE related inquires and transmissions.
  • Please format your email equalitythrued or ete followed by your school name/region/country name and @gmail.com. (Example: equalitythrued.USA@gmail.com)
  • CC in ALL emails (equalitythrougheducation.ete@gmail.com AND oorjamunot07@gmail.com)
  • Start reaching out to local schools and businesses
  • As your chapter starts running smoothly, you must start reaching out to local schools and aim to create a partnership to help the underprivileged students there. In addition, you must partner with local businesses to raise awareness of your ETE Chapter and gain widespread support from the community by hosting fundraisers.

*If you already have non-profits, libraries, and schools in your region in mind to partner with, please let us know by emailing us their information including their contact information and address.
